About

My name is Shmulik Dorinbaum. I'm 44, divorced, a father of two (a daughter aged 7 and a son aged 10), and I play chess all the time. I built this site and blog to help you learn to play the right way too.

How I got into chess

I'm an amateur player. Not a champion, not a professional, but someone who took the game seriously: I've consulted with top players and coaches around the world, played in tournaments at home and abroad, and learned the game inside out. From openings through strategy to the endgame. Today I want to pass on what I've learned.

Playing with my kids, and raising the next generation

At home we play chess all the time. With my kids, at 7 and 10, it's part of our routine. I see how the game teaches them to think a move ahead, make decisions, and take losses in stride. For me it's also a way to grow the next generation of chess players, starting from my children's age and up.

The blog and the platform: learn the easy way

I built chessiam (Chess I Am) so that anyone who wants to can get started and improve without the hassle. On the blog you'll find articles on openings, tactics, and endgames, in plain language. The platform has AI games and plenty of simple ways to learn chess properly: play against the computer, solve puzzles, and analyze games. No accounts, no subscriptions. Just sit down and play.

I do my best to teach others. If you're a beginner or want to get better, you're in the right place. Welcome.
